5 Techniques to adopt while handling a cat
Most of the
domestic cats use to be friendly in nature. Usually they allow the owner to
handle them without any hesitation. They can also permit a stranger to handle
them if they are taken in belief that the stranger is not going to harm them or
if it is quietly reassured to them that no danger is present.
Following
five techniques are usually adopted by handlers all over the world, and they
have proved to be very effective:
Talking to the cat
The handler
should talk to the cat smoothly but confidently. This helps in to reassure a
cat that no danger is present and to make it realize that handler is it’s
friend and is not going to hurt it.
Blow into the face
Some
handlers blow into the cat face gently which make it realize that handler is
playing with it. But it should be kept in mind that any harsh blow can make the
cat nervous and ferocious. In this way one can make trouble instead of making
the situations hostile. Therefore blow to the face should be avoided until you
are not expert in it.
Stroke beneath the chin
A stroke
beneath the chin of the cat is very effective method followed by many handlers.
It makes the cat docile as it is a sign of affection for the cat.
Stroke beside the ears
Gentle
strokes and massage beside the ears gives relief to a person. Same is the case
with a cat. Many handlers adopt this technique before handling a cat because
after this, a cat doesn’t show resistance usually.
Stroke over the back
Some
domestic cats are handled by giving a firm blow over the back before handling
by the handlers. They enjoy the firm stroke over the back which moves from head
to the tail.
