The Layout of a poultry farm
A Poultry farm should be constructed
observing certain principles and considerations
which includes:
·
A farm should be constructed in such
a design that it avoids access of any foreigner, vehicles, or other substances
to the birds. The design should prevent access to all possible contamination
tools for the birds.
·
To avoid the spread of diseases, the
layout should be in such a way the fresh air first passes through the brooder
shed followed by the grower and then layer sheds.
·
Brooder and grower sheds should be
constructed having a minimum 50-100 feet distance while layer shed should be at
least 100 meters away.
·
Waste disposal center, eggs
storerooms, office room and, feed storerooms should be located near the
entrance gate to avoid more engagements of people around the sheds.
·
The disposal pit and medicine rooms
should be constructed at the extreme ends of the farm.
·
Sickroom should also be constructed
together with medicine room for convenience.
·
In colder areas, A Poultry farm
should be constructed in such a manner that it receives maximum sunlight
throughout the day. As the sun rises in the east and sets in the west,
therefore the layout of a poultry farm in the colder region should be from north
to south so that it receives sunlight the whole day.
·
In warmer areas, A poultry farm
should be constructed in such a way that it receives the least possible
sunlight throughout the day. The layout should be from east to west so that it
receives the least sunlight in the whole day.
